hey! i'm bilal.

i'm originally from houston, but live in san francisco. i co-founded brylo, an AI-native gene editing lab with my best friend rudy. we're building a foundation model for gene editing — the goal is to simulate edits in-silico & predict outcomes before the wet lab. we're backed by z-fellows (cory levy), pareto holdings, & other top angels. i'm on leave from ut austin after my freshman year.

previously co-founded & exited cognigauge with rudy. before that i:

• built computer-vision models to identify cancerous cell markers & cloned stem cells in NCI-backed lab
• trained neural networks to decode where touch occurred directly from electrical signals recorded inside the brain, for next-gen neuroprosthetics
• built an AI model that scanned huge libraries of immune-cell DNA to uncover hidden signatures of cancer & autoimmune disease
• built & deployed AI models to detect breast cancer in east uganda
• and a lot more, but always AI x bio :)
